This is the point where all three territories connect; it is technically a piece of ground which is mutual to all three, as otherwise Fire would have trouble defending it just so they can go to the gathering without crossing into other territories. It is only about 100m long.

Finchstar streaked out of the trees on to the hilly slope, chest heaving and eyes burning. "FireClan!" he called to his Clanmates, hoping they'd followed him.

Tanglepath panted, coming to a stop at the riverside. The strange boiling mud had not caught them yet, but they would not have forever to wait.

Martenstrike burst from the undergrowth, Melodykit still swinging from his jaws. He looked back, waiting for Littledawn.

Littledawn skidded to a halt beside him and sobbed heavily, sides heaving. Timberblaze passed Havenkit to her, the ginger kit shivering with terror and shock. She looked to Martenstrike, nuzzling him in thanks.

Hawkstep took a deep breath, finally able to rest his burning legs. He turned to his mate, Brindlestripe, lapping his tongue over her cheek and silently thanking SoulClan that they both made it out alive. At Finchstar's call, he looked up expectantly, glad that their fearful leader was also safe.

Melodykit opened her eyes, shivering. She didn't know if it was from utter fear or just being cold, all she knew was that she wanted to be sound asleep in her mother, Littledawn's lap, safe in the nursery. She whimpered, wanting to be put down from Martenstrike's grip.

Leopardpaw stumbled, face-planting into the grass as she tried slowing down. Her body wracked a sob, still remembering the smell of Nettlepaw's burning flesh.

Floralight followed Finchstar, eyes wide with horror. "S-So many... So many died..." she whispered to herself, ears flattened as far as they could go.

Finchstar looked up as cats burst through the bushes, scent not of his own Clan. He leaped to his paws, ready to defend his Clan, when he realised their scent. "BrightClan!"

Fernpaw emerged onto the scene in a daze, panting and out of breath. He slumped down near the river and stared vacantly at the other cats, trying to process what just happened.

Martenstrike set the kit down, trying to ignore the heat rising in his ears. "Ah, it was, no... problem Littledawn, I.." he stuttered awkwardly.

"I can hear SoulClan's calling," Tanglepath breathed, "We need to travel to the mooncave. All of us."

Littledawn set Havenkit down by her paws and licked Melodykit's ear while still shivering, looking to the BrightClan cats as they closed in. She curled her tail around her kits.

Nightbrook stumbled to a halt, collapsing against Rowanscar's side while her own heaved as she fought to catch her breath.

Cedarpaw ran forwards, finally slowing down and letting a sob wrack through his body. He curled up on himself. Rabbitpaw... Hawkpaw... Oh, SoulClan, what do we do now?

Duckpuddle set down Midnightkit and looked around for his brother.

Stagshade slowed as he reached the FireClan cats, looking up at the smoke pluming off the volcano. "Finchstar," he mumbled, trying to be hospitable.

Flamepaw skidded to a halt at the water and turned back, chest heaving as he gasped for air. "Cedarpaw?" he called gently.

Cedarpaw looked up, relief flooding him. "Flamepaw!" He wailed, running over and nuzzling himself into his brother's fur. "Rabbitpaw... Hawkpaw... they-" his throat closed. He couldn't finish his sentence.

Finchstar nodded back. "Is..." he shook his head, deciding not to ask. Later. "I think we should keep moving, it's not safe here." He glanced back at FireClan's territory, hearing the crashing and crackling of uprooted trees burning.

"Tanglepath said we need to move to the Mooncave," Timberblaze uttered to his leader then scooped up Havenkit again, Littledawn picking up Melodykit. The queen was on edge, glancing toward their territory as it began to burn.

Nightbrook looked to Stagshade as she realized their medicine cat wasn't among them. She looked to the FireClan cats, straightening her stance so she was no longer leaning against Rowanscar, who appeared to be in a severe state of shock.

Finchstar dipped his head. "We can make sure when our cats are safe," he mewed a little solemnly. "I think this is everyone, let's go upstream."

Littledawn nodded and began making her way upstream, leaning against Timberblaze as he padded beside her. The ginger tom was quickly becoming a father figure for the queen.

Nightbrook looked to Stagshade. "Should we follow?" She mewed quietly.

Leopardpaw padded up to her mentor, looking back at the cats from the other Clans.

Cedarpaw trembled. "It's just us now..." suddenly, he pulled himself backwards. "I should've-" he thought back to when Hawkpaw urged him to move forwards. "I should've helped them! They were right there... I could've pulled them along..."

Tanglepath followed the fresh tang wafting from the direction of the mooncave, his ears echoing with incomprehensible whispers.

Martenstrike padded alongside Littledawn, trying to keep steady.

"BrightClan, let's go," Stagshade called, trying to enunciate through the fog in his lungs.

Flamepaw walked shakily after the deputy.

Duckpuddle waddled after his Clan.

Leopardpaw walked with her Clan, head hanging low.

Floralight kept in step with her brother, a grim frown set on her face.

Brindlestripe shivered and pressed up against Hawkstep. "We... We should go," she murmured. She started to slowly pad towards the Mooncave, following the rest.

Melodykit let herself be carried by Littledawn once more.

Cricketsong trailed behind Stagshade, trying to focus on her paws instead of the pain surrounding her and the rest of BrightClan.

Finchstar flinched as the clouds that had been gathering earlier in the morning broke open, washing away what little was left of the icy snow and drenching the cats to their skins. "Stay close!" he yowled to his Clanmates. "We can rest at the Mooncave!" If it's still there...

Littledawn flattened her ears and tucked her head down to try and prevent the rain from hitting Melodykit. Timberblaze did the same, pressing to the queen's side and tucking Havenkit down. He glanced up occasionally to make sure they were still close to their group of cats.

Nightbrook opted to stick close to both her clan and FireClan, tail staying pressed to Rowanscar's side. The tom was struggling, fighting against the rain to keep pace with the others.

Tanglepath let out an annoyed huff at the pounding rain, continuing along the trail to the Mooncave.

Martenstrike pressed by Littledawn, shivering as his normally fully pelt was soaked through by the rain.

Stagshade padded ahead of the surviving BrightClan cats, stubby tail raised high.

Flamepaw trotted alongside Cedarpaw, painfully aware of how lonely he felt without the rest of his brothers.
