Estate Back Fields Empty Estate Back Fields

Sun Apr 26, 2020 3:33 pm
A run-down, ivy covered stone wall stands in the middle of a field, separating the wild lands from the estate. The grass on both sides is wild and overgrown, covered in sparse bramble patches filled with birds and small rodents. Some of the brambles grow up against the side of the wall, creating den-like structures. The closer to the estate you get, the more trees there are and the thicker the undergrowth becomes.

Rowanscar had opted to follow Stagstar, his pelt prickling with unease as he padded through the undergrowth. "How do the other clans constantly live under the trees? I felt trapped," he hissed softly, ears flattening.

Marshfeather bounded through the springy grass. "It looks like there's a pile of stone up ahead," he called, "Might be worth checking out for shelter."

Spiderleap followed slightly, glancing around the unfamiliar area. He caught up with the other two cats, unable to shake away his instinctual wariness around them. "D-Do you think the other's will be okay? Do you think we'll even find anything?" He asked, voice trembling. He padded tensely, claws ripping up dirt as he walked.

Rowanscar sent an annoyed glance to Spiderleap. "If you keep ripping up the dirt and being as noisy as you are, we'll never find any prey, that's for sure," he snarked, glancing around again. "I'm sure the others will be fine," he added, tone much gentler than before.

Thorntail padded up behind the group, his ears twitching. "We're here to hunt, Marshfeather. Who knows what rogues live in these parts?"
"We're warriors, Thorntail. If it keeps the Clan safer, we can take any risk." Plumdrop glanced towards Stagstar, ignoring the ache in her bones.

Stagstar opened his mouth to speak, then stopped. The grass ahead of him twitched. He lifted his stubby tail, signaling the group to be silent.

Spiderleap stilled immediately, sheathing his claws and tensing his muscles unconsciously. He glanced back at the rest of the group momentarily before fixing his gaze on which patch of grass the leader had been looking at.

Rowanscar lowered himself into the grass, ears pinned to his head and his tail-tip twitching anxiously back and forth. His front paws shifted, rising and dropping quietly while his gaze remained fixed on the grass.

Marshfeather sniffed the air tensely. Rogues?

"Hello?" Stagstar called, "Is someone-" He was cut off by a large she-cat leaping from the grass and tackling him.

Rowanscar snarled and leaped forward to aid his leader, but backed up. He couldn't safely get involved without possibly ending up harming Stagstar.

Another cat quickly made himself known, throwing himself on to Rowanscar and attacking with surprisingly agile and coordinated paws.
Plumdrop let out a howl, throwing herself on the next unfamiliar cat she saw.
Thorntail's fur fluffed up and he scrambled back, hoping to escape unscathed when yet another she-cat darted from the grass and knocked his paws out from under him.

"Hey!" the she-cat called pinning Stagstar to the ground, claws at his throat. "Stand down or the stub-tail gets it."

Stagstar struggled under the muscular she-cats paws, panic rising in his throat.

Plumdrop snarled, but backed away. "He'll just get straight back up anyway."
Thorntail scrambled back to his paws, unsheathing his claws menacingly, even though the she-cat that knocked him over had already disappeared back into the long grass. Mouse dung.

Rowanscar had struggled at first, snarling at the tom atop him while lashing back at him. The sight of his leader pinned had him pausing, however, remaining pinned beneath the rogue and lashing his tail.

Spiderleap opened his mouth to call out in fear towards his clanmates, but was cut off by a harsh push to his neck, sending him backwards and winding him. He gasped as a heavy weight pinned him down, pushing away his front legs so that the nerves in his shoulders pinched tightly. The burly tom was quick, slapping one clawed paw to the base of his throat and the other to an area right under his left eye. There was a moment of unrelenting struggle, but he wasjust too small and too weak. After listening to the she-cat that currently held Stagstar, he ceased, fear bubbling in his throat.
